Shuttle Completes FTA Testing

Transportation Techniques, LLC, ("TransTeq") announced today
that its EcoMark 45 foot, 116 passenger, hybrid electric bus has
become the first vehicle of its kind to complete the Federal
Transit Administration's bus testing program in Altoona,
Pennsylvania and is heading home to Denver. The "Altoona"
testing covers the seven major areas of structural integrity,
performance, maintainability, noise, fuel economy, reliability
and safety.
TransTeq was contracted by Denver's Regional Transportation
District ("RTD") to design from a "clean sheet of paper" the
advanced technology EcoMark bus. TransTeq will provide RTD a
fleet of 36 EcoMark buses for $15 million. These vehicles will
service over 50,000 RTD passengers daily on downtown Denver's
renowned 16th Street Mall.
In addition to being the largest hybrid electric bus ever
produced, the EcoMark provides greatly reduced emissions,
improved fuel efficiency, a twenty-hour operating range and a
fifty percent increase in passenger capacity. The EcoMark has
over thirty innovative features to enhance the rider's
experience, improve safety, limit emissions and minimize
operation and maintenance costs. Passengers enjoy both a
spacious cabin and the ease in boarding resulting from four
doors and a low flat floor throughout the bus. Drivers
appreciate the smooth, powerful performance the vehicles two 220
HP electric motors provide. Mechanics welcome the ease of
service designed into the EcoMark. Everyone likes the improved
air quality.
